“Time is what keeps the light from reaching us. There is no greater obstacle to God than time.”
Mo = Short length of time
Ment = Mind/Thought
Moment = A short time of the mind
Time.
That pesky 'thing' that stores all of our problems.
Past stories, present stories, future stories.
None of it true.
'Time is an illusion', some of the deeper thinkers say.
The reality is that nobody knows what time is, even the people who say it's an illusion.
Further, nobody knows what anything is in the world of time-space.
Even the 'smartest' people on the planet are walking around in a dream of not-knowing, fooling themselves into thinking they know stuff. They don't.
A suggestion - the reason nobody knows what time is, is because it's not there. Something untrue can’t be explained because there is nothing to explain.
Let’s dig deeper.
The mind attempts to make sense of ‘reality’. This creates a sense of continuation, which we call ‘time’.
In between ‘life happening’ and your perception, there is, what the mind considers, a brief moment of ‘time’.
Therefore, the mind creates time.
The mind IS time.
And apparently, time is an illusion. So let’s consider where that puts the mind.🤔
Is there such a thing as 'the moment'? (refer back to the etymology at the top)
Try it for yourself. Try and catch a 'moment'.
You'll recognise that it's gone as you attempt to grasp it. And the idea of 'catching' is the new 'moment'…. and on and on. It's beautifully inescapable.
Nobody ever has 'lived in the present', and nobody ever will because the present isn't a state of being. It isn't something that can be grasped in time-space.
It's a false paradigm.
'Presence' is just what it is. You're enveloped in it. There is no 'now' because there is no then. There is just this forever.
So simple that the incessant need for complexity will refuse it.
It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so. “ – Mark Twain
Cause and effect is something else we need to call out. Without the idea of time, cause and effect isn’t recognised.
It’s a paradigm thing again. The premise holding up ‘cause and effect’ requires the false knowledge of time.
You cannot build on shifting sands. Well, you can try, but it won’t last long. Look at the average human, their entire ‘reality’ is built on a false paradigm and so they’re riddled with (so-called) anxiety and similar.
Without time, there is no cause and effect. It’s radically simple. If we believe in a thing called ‘time’, then one thing causes another. Compounded illusion.
Paradigm shifts are radical. They happen when you begin burning your beliefs to the ground. I’m not talking about surface-level beliefs. I’m talking about everything that holds up your entire worldview.
Is there any utility in all of this?
If you want 'unfiltered reality', this is where it leads. If you want to feel good and have a nice life, stay asleep and keep dreaming.
There is nothing wrong either way.
